Keeping things in perspective — more important than you think
After thinking long and hard on what to write to about next, I felt the essence of this post is something we all need to learn about and understand.
Let me first thank everyone for the reactions and all the support you showed for my last post, I hope to continue serving your mind and heart’s best interests with my posts!
In case you missed it, check out my post on “Conversations and it’s importance”
In almost any situation we face on a daily basis, it’s very easy to jump to conclusions. We tend to forget logic and jump to the conclusion that’s in our head, be it good or bad.
What we do when things are/aren’t going well
Especially when things aren’t going so well, that’s when our brain tends to overthink things. We throw all logic out of the window, because when bad things happen, thinking logically is what we fail to do, most of the time.
When things are going well, we don’t keep a lid on things, while that is not a problem, what would become a problem is if we do not keep our feet on the ground. Success can change a person, no matter what your character is or was before, success does change you.
Too much of anything is bad — Mark Twain
Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain speaks the utter truth when he says the above words. I’ve been at the wrong end of being too happy at one point in my life, I let it get to my head and it was something I should not have done.
It is natural for us to be overjoyed by success, you deserve to be happy, after all, your hard work has been worth it. However, it is at times like these when we need to remind ourselves, to keep our feet firmly on the ground.
Why perspective in every situation is important
Perspective is what we think or feel towards something in particular. It’s how we look at a certain situation and how we react to it.
Like I said earlier, it’s easy to overreact to things. Most people make that mistake and end up only making things worse.
Maturity and perspective comes with experience and not age. A 13 year old could be a lot more mature than I am, because of the things they’ve experienced and the lessons they’ve learned.
When we keep things in perspective, it helps us maintain a certain balance in life, which is vital for us to remain optimistic and hopeful that things will be okay.
Without that all-important balance in life, we are directionless and we are likely to lose more than we already have in a bad situation.
Bad things happen for a reason, so do good things, this balance of both is one of the most important things for us to have, as individuals on a daily basis.
We need to understand our role in the way things function around us. What our role is, how we can change the situation, how can we make it better? The answer to all these questions is to have the right perspective.
I hope I was able to give you some clarity of thought on the importance of perspective through this post. Remember, doesn’t matter what happens to you, good or bad, always to stay calm, and keep things in perspective.
Only then can you be in control of how things affect you, at least up to a certain extent.
I will be back again in the future with another post, until then take care! Thanks for reading!
